Famous French Onion Soup - Homemade Receipe

This easy homemade French onion soup is awesome. The taste of caramelized onions with melty cheese and the beef stock makes it yummy. Very easy to make French onion soup serve with French baguette is a classic one.

Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter

5 or 6 medium-size onion sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/3 cup dry white wine

6 cups beef stock

4 sprigs fresh thyme

2 bay leaves

2 teaspoons white vinegar

Salt, black pepper to taste

French baguette slices

1 cup shredded Cheese

Cooking Directions

Melt butter in a large stockpot over medium heat. Once it melted add sliced onions stir it until it becomes deep golden brown and caramelized. Add garlic once the onion caramelized. Then add wine, beef stock, thyme, and bay leaves and stir it again. Boil it in reduced heat put the gas in simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced to about 10-15 minutes. Remove and discard thyme sprigs and bay leaves. Add white vinegar, season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Preheat oven to broil.

Place baguette slices onto a baking sheet. Place into oven and broil until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side; set aside.

Take the soup bowl and pour the soup. Place onto a baking sheet. Put the baguette slices over the soup to cover the surface of the soup completely. Then sprinkle the cheeses over the baguette. Place into oven and broil until golden brown and cheeses have melted about 2 minutes.

The French Onion Soup is ready to serve. Best to consume when it’s hot. A good and tasty soup for this winter season.
