Korean fried Cauliflower

Korean fried cauliflower can be enjoyed as a meal with other sides, as a starter. This also can be used with chicken also.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head cauliflower cut into bite-sized florets
  • oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green scallions thinly sliced
  • Water as required

Sauce

  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup + 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chili paste
  • 1 tbsp Onion powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

In a medium bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, baking powder with water. Whisk until smooth. The batter should be thin with the consistency of paint.

Add oil to the pan for frying. Once the oil is ready for frying, put the cauliflower in the batter and put it in the oil. Cook until the batter is crispy and a light golden brown. Repeat with remaining cauliflower

In a small bowl, stir cornstarch and water until cornstarch is fully dissolved. In a saucepan, add the tomato sauce, chilli sauce, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, onion powder, and sesame oil, and heat and simmer for a minute. Now add the cornflower that was prepared with water earlier has to pour in this and stir it and allow the sauce to simmer until thickened. Once this sauce is ready toss the fried cauliflower. Sprinkle it will sesame and serve it.

Serve while cauliflower is still hot and crispy.
